Toners

The step most men skip

The toner is probably the most misunderstood product in men's skincare. Many associate it with the old-fashioned, alcohol-based astringent toners, or simply don't know what it does. In reality, a good toner plays one of two distinct roles depending on the formula: it preps skin to better absorb the products that follow, or it actively exfoliates to improve texture and pores. Our range includes both versions.

Toners Products

Two toners, two different functions

The hydrating toner is applied after cleansing and before serums and creams. Its job is to rebalance the skin's pH — often disrupted by water and cleanser — and to create a hydrated base that better absorbs the active ingredients applied afterwards. It is alcohol-free, unlike traditional toners which tend to dehydrate and irritate skin over the long term.

The exfoliating toner serves a different function: it contains glycolic acid at a lower concentration, intended for more frequent use than an intensive treatment. It helps clear pores, reduce blackheads and gradually improve texture, with a gentler action spread over time compared to a weekly peel.

Which to choose depends on your goal. Those with dry, sensitive skin, or who simply want to optimise how well their routine is absorbed, should reach for the hydrating toner. Those with oily, combination or congested-pore skin will find the exfoliating toner a useful ally for smoother, more even skin, without needing to jump straight to a more aggressive treatment.

Benefits

pH rebalancing

Restores skin's natural pH after cleansing, optimising the absorption of the products that follow.

Gradual exfoliation

Low-concentration glycolic acid clears pores and improves texture with a gradual action.

Alcohol-free hydration

Glycerin and cucumber extract hydrate without drying or irritating, unlike traditional astringent toners.

Skin preparation

Properly toned skin absorbs the active ingredients of subsequently applied serums and creams more effectively.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a toner really necessary in a routine?

It's not as essential as cleansing and moisturising, but it's a low-effort step with concrete benefits: it rebalances pH and improves the absorption of subsequent products. For those with congested pores or uneven texture, the exfoliating toner offers a more direct benefit.

Can I use both toners together?

Yes, but not in the same application. A common approach is to use the hydrating toner morning and evening, and swap it for the exfoliating one 2-3 evenings a week, not on the same day as another exfoliating treatment.

Does the exfoliating toner sting or irritate skin?

At a 5% concentration, a slight tingling in the first few uses is normal, but it should not cause persistent redness. If you feel intense stinging, reduce the frequency and consider starting with shorter applications.
